With your logic, “american football” should be called Hand Ball because you use your hand (not your “arms”) to throw the football. Otherwise, football should be called leg ball because you actually use the power of your leg to hit the ball.

What you call soccer is actually football, this is because for 95% of a football (soccer) match the ball is controlled by a foot. Does this happen in American Football? No this is why it’s called American football and not just football, although the americans won’t say american football because it will sound weird lol. That’s all!

I say FIFA football and NFL football to avoid confusion, both excellent sports.
