Rooney is excited about the future of England

The future of the English national football team is looking as bright as ever before and Wayne Rooney voiced his excitement in seeing how the national side is being filled with more and more talented youngsters.

“It’s an exciting team. I think it’s the most exciting squad I’ve ever been involved with, if I’m honest.” Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney said as he talked about the English national football team.

After the international retirement of Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole, Roy Hodgson has had to rebuild the English national side and Wayne Rooney praised the work that the head coach has made as Hodgson has turned the national team into a competitive one that has enough talent to compete against the best teams in the world of football.

England recently played a friendly match against Germany and despite having fell behind in the scoreboard 0-2, they still managed to make a 3-2 comeback and emerge victorious.

Even though it was only a friendly encounter, it still was a fairly important victory for England as the team was filled with young players such as: Jack Butland, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane. This shows that the next generation of players has what it takes to push England to victories against big teams. Continue reading “Rooney is excited about the future of England”

Wayne Rooney believes that he still has a few more years at the top level left in him

Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney believes that he still has a few more years at the top level left in him. His massive decline in terms of form has led to many speculations in recent years that Rooney may be feeling the effects of having been playing regularly since the age of 17. Not many players start playing regular first-team football at this very young age. After having made close to 600 carrier appearances for Manchester United and Everton and a further 100 more for the England national team, Rooney has suffered in terms of form and injuries in the last couple of seasons.

The 30-year-old could have just played his last World Cup tournament for England. The former Everton striker has admitted that age may be beginning to catch up with him, but he still has a couple of years left at the very top. His comments are likely to hint that Rooney may consider a move to the MLS like many of his former England teammates like Steven Gerrard, Ashley Cole, and Frank Lampard. Rooney has been out with a knee injury for almost 2 months and has not played since the middle of February. He has scored only seven league goals this season in what is turning out into one of the most disappointing campaigns for the striker. Louis Van Gaal liked the fact that Wayne Rooney had an honest and animated discussion

Louis Van Gaal liked the fact that Wayne Rooney had an honest and animated discussion with teammates regarding the way they had played in the first half of the game at Liverpool the other day and it made a great difference.

The Red Devils were nowhere in competition prior to half time break and were probably lucky not to have got trailed to Liverpool by that time.

They were not at all appearing to be going to win that game.

But, after Rooney’s interaction to the players during the break, there was a change in the body language when the team reappeared on the pitch and the captain himself led the way with his first goal at the home of the arch rivals in about a decade.

According to Van Gaal, it’s very important to share honest opinions with teammates and he would be pleased if the players do that more in future.

The manager was quoted as speaking, “Being honest and frank in the dressing room is good. I liked it and I would say I want it to happen more in future.”

“Everyone has to hundred percent commit himself to the team and feel responsible for the way team is playing. The manager shouldn’t be the one taking all the responsibility because that’s not right.” Continue reading “Louis Van Gaal liked the fact that Wayne Rooney had an honest and animated discussion”

Wayne Rooney is confident that United will start challenging for the league title next season

Wayne Rooney is confident that United will start challenging for the league title next season, but he has admitted that everything depends upon a good start.

After the arrival of Louis van Gaal last season, United took a few months in order to settle under the tactics of the Dutchman. This season, though, they have the comfort of having already played for the last 12 months under van Gaal. The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss also has a better understanding of his players. A strong start off the line is very much key towards keeping pace with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

Last season, the 29-year-old finished the season with 14 goals in 33 appearances. He will be looking for a much better return from his boot given that Rooney is likely to be the first choice striker after the departure of Robin van Persie. The Dutchman has joined Fenerbahce in a £ 4.5 million deal, which leaves Rooney as the recognised top striker upfront. Van Gaal has hinted that new signing Memphis Depay could also be used in this position if he adapts to the tactics. Rooney has pointed out to the fact that United managed only 13 points from the opening 10 games last season. Louis Van Gaal faces large Criticism

The critics often have a go at the Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal for his strategies, selections and formations.

But, the Dutchman cares the least about all that. He always does things in his unique way.

In the away game versus Cambridge United the previous month, the Red Devils failed to win and the whole blame was put on Van Gaal.

Not too many liked the squad that he picked for that Cambridge visit.

It was said that he perhaps tinkers with the squad a bit too much and that does not let the players settle in a particular role. Continue reading “Louis Van Gaal faces large Criticism”

Wayne Rooney – The best Versatile Player

Wayne Rooney has been known for his versatility, but it has also been a detrimental aspect of the former Everton star on a number of occasions.

He was not given enough limelight during some title winning seasons because the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie scored more goals. This does not appear to have hurt his mentality to put the team before him. This attitude has seen Rooney being played in a midfield position under Louis Van Gaal over the last few matches. He has revelled in this role and the Dutchman has praised the 29 year old for yet another impressive contribution in the 3-1 victory against Newcastle.

Alan Pardew’s men were the visitors to Old Trafford on Boxing Day. Even today recently suffered a humiliating big defeat against Arsenal, they were expected to bounce back and improve on their recent trips to Old Trafford. This was not about to happen after Rooney scored two goals and created the other for Robin van Persie in an impressive display. Van Gaal said after the match that he could not ask more from the England international, who he believes has the ability to play as a midfielder for 90 minutes because of his lung capacity.

“He scores two goals and gets an assist. What more can you demand as a manager? In our last match against Aston Villa Rooney was a little bit too defensive so I asked for him to be more attacking. He has the lung capacity to run 90 minutes as a midfielder. I can also use him as a striker but for the team it’s better he plays in midfield at the moment,” said Van Gaal, who used his best strikeforce of Rooney, van Persie, and Radamel Falcao in the same match. Juan Mata also played an important role.
