The Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has claimed that the former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is such a good attacking talent that he will be able to lead Manchester United to the 20th Premier league title this season. The Dutchman was signed from Arsenal £24 million in the summer and he has already made a huge impact on the club’s fortunes this season. So far, he has scored 11 goals in just 14 matches for the club in all competitions. He has been able to outshine Wayne Rooney, who has been at the club for almost 10 years.
Now, the England international has said that he is confident that the Dutchman will be able to get Manchester United to the record 20th Premier league title, which would also knock Manchester city off their perch. Robin van Persie has been extremely prolific for Manchester United in the Champions League and the Premier league. He once again helped United get a comeback victory against Braga in the Champions league, which almost sealed their passage into the knockout stages. Speaking after the match, Rooney said that van Persie has made almost an immediate impact at the club and is hoping that it continues for the rest of the season.
“I think he’s great for the whole team – he’s our talisman. Everyone knows he’s a fantastic player. He’s obviously a great finisher but he has a calmness about him, holds the ball up well and brings players into play. If you can get players around him and feeding off him, it’s great for us all. When you look at all the teams who have won this competition, they’ve all had those individuals who can do a bit of magic and win the competition,” said Wayne Rooney.
